Can I just say how refreshing it is to read about other moms who also dislike their children?
Well, not all the time, but those little stinkers KNOW how to push my buttons. Like when my two year old is about to do something naughty and I tell her to stop. She looks right at me, stares me into my eyes, and does it anyway.
Or when they repeatedly trash my office/playroom.
Or the whining. Or dear Lord help me.
Or when my son just sits there and lets the dog chew one of his sisters toys into tiny pieces.
Or when I fold all the laundry and put it away, only to return to the room and to find all the clothes emptied from the drawers.
Or how about like Friday afternoon when my two year old flushed a pullup and no plumber was available to snake the toilet? (On the bright side, I now own an auger and now know how to snake my own toilet?)
Motherhood is challenging and there may be a time when we all say
I need some help here!
This book came into my life at just the right time. I have been struggling a lot as a mother lately. My husband and I have recently agreed that I could start pursuing my writing/freelancing more seriously, but trying to do that with kids at home, plus take care of all of the normal household duties has proven to be really frustrating.
And my kids are at those ages that they know how to push every button…
Because they want their mom. Full time. Full attention.
And they don’t always behave well.
So this book i need some help here! Hope for when Your Kids Don’t Go according to Plan by Kathi Lipp has been a breath of fresh air.
I love this book.
Seriously.
Kathi starts out by sharing personal stories to let us know we all have challenges, we all have “unexpected gifts” in motherhood, no child is perfect, and we’re all in this together, so don’t suffer alone.
I love how she covers the fact that we all have mom guilt, and we all have “un-mom-like emotions” and that is OK.
The book is laid out by topic areas of key frustration for moms – when my child is sick, when my child is different, when my child makes more choices… is struggling, and so forth. The book is filled with personal examples from Kathi and her friends about the things their children have done, followed by some practical steps you as a mother can take to get through the situation, followed by prayers for the child, and prayers for you mom.
Kathi takes a scripture based approach to motherhood, and the book is filled with reminders from the Bible, prayers and help for moms.
Moms, if you feel like you need some help, get a copy of this book! You won’t regret it!
