How Do You Stay Fit? {Moxie Thursday: Health & Fitness Linky}

August 29, 2013 By katbiggie 12 Comments

Welcome to Moxie Thursdays!!

It’s time to make it your best week. It is too easy to be stuck in a sedentary lifestyle. This can affect our health; both mental and physical. The best way to get out of a sedentary lifestyle is to get up and move around! This link up is to encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle that includes being active and eating well. This isn’t about losing weight, it’s about how you feel and using your body to the best of it’s own abilities.

I think I have mentioned that I joined a half marathon training group? Yep. And believe it or not, I’ve made it to every group run so far. In the past two weeks I have run fifteen miles, and I’m running a 10K on Saturday. I feel amazing. I feel strong. I feel like I’m finally doing something to take care of me.

I was out of shape and making very poor decisions. I just want to encourage you that if I can start leading an active lifestyle, so can you. Luckily I have a very supportive husband who is so excited about me running that he rushes home from work on Monday and Wednesday evenings to keep the kids so I can go join my training group!

If you are motivated by helping someone else, consider joining a Team in Training Group. They take anyone from newbies to long time runners and help you train for 1/2 marathon, marathon, or Triathlon. It’s free training, but you raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society while you run. I raised almost $3000 while training for my first marathon nearly a decade ago. At the time, a friend’s son was dying from Leukemia. Calvin kept me motivated the entire 26.2 miles.

Link up with us and share how you keep healthy! Lifestyle, fitness, food… share your best secrets!

Moxie Thursday is open for the entire weekend. Join us Thursday – Sunday!

    Hi Alexa, I linked up a new running safety tips post (and plea to drivers) that I felt compelled to write last night after one of our local high school cross country students was hit by a car and seriously injured the other day.
    Congrats on your training to run a half marathon! I’m thinking about running one too!

    I finally am getting back into the groove this week with working out. Last night I did 45 minutes of cardio, while Kevin and the girls hung out a bit. God it felt so good and even got new workout clothes sneakers recently. I really need to start posting about it and when I do, you know I will be linking up with you!! 🙂

      Thank you very much! I know all about taking a break – it is really hard to get back into it once you’ve taken time off. (ahem, I took about six years off!!!) Good luck!

    The training group sounds fun. I think I’d need to have other people with me as motivation to run that far! And, of course, I love the tie in with charity. Don’t forget to use the Charity Miles app when you run. You can raise even more money!

      You know, I’ve been trying to use Charity Miles, but it seems to have issues (the app.) I think I will uninstall and reinstall and see if it works better! I ran for 46 minutes yesterday, and it logged me at 0 miles!!

    Keeping healthy and fit isn’t that hard. By doing a regular exercise and healthy diet, you’ll have a fit and sexy body as you wanted it to be. Also, keep yourself motivated so that you could strive more. It’s a great thing doing a regular exercise as it was your daily routine.
