I am constantly searching for news about TTTS that I can share with you all. While this is an incredibly sad story, it demonstrates the commitment that TTTS parents have to helping others who are in this journey, and in our commitment to finding answers. Maybe even a cure one day.
This story touched me for so many reasons. One, the mother was so young. Two, that even though she was young, she still wanted to do something to help others. Three, she is a South Carolina native, like myself. I wanted to share her story and see if we could help with her wish.
Nikki’s story:
Courtney Nicole “Nikki” Parsons, 20, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at MUSC in Charleston. Although she was only 20 years old, she had already experienced quite a bit of life and loss. Courtney had carried twin girls, Anna-Leah and Haylee-Grace. Both of them died because of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS).
Nikki was killed in a car crash. It was an unexpected death, and so very tragic.
Before Nikki passed, she wanted to set up a foundation in her children’s memory to benefit other families and children who are going through difficult pregnancies and losses as a result of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS).
Haylee-Grace and Anna-Leah were born March 17, 2014 at 25 weeks, and became our Angels that day. They were loved by their parents, Nikki Parsons and Anthony Bravo. The pregnancy had been complicated by TTTS, undiagnosed until the very day they were delivered. This was a very sad day for the family, but we were all comforted by our faith and supporting family. We think about them daily and each own a special place in our hearts.
On June 8, 2014, their loving mother, Nikki Parsons at the young age of 20, joined her daughters in heaven after an automobile accident. This has been a hard time for her partner Anthony, and her devoted parents. We will miss Haylee, Anna and Nikki for the rest of our lives, but we know we will see our angels again one day.
Before Nikki passed away, she had wanted to set up a foundation in her children’s honor to benefit other families and children who are also going through difficult pregnancies and losses as a result of TTTS. In honor of her wishes and desire to help other moms and their children, we have set up this fundraising page to raise money for the great work and resources that The TTTS Foundation provides to families like her own. We ask that you donate not only for Haylee-Grace and Anna-Leah, but also for their devoted mother who now will forever be with her daughters, Our Angels.
With Grateful Hearts,
The Parsons and Bravo Families
Monetary donations may be made here.
There is a lovely video tribute to her here.
