Remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you all about Walmart’s Gluten Free selection? Let me give you a quick recap. Walmart a really great Gluten free section in select Walmart stores. And the prices are definitely cheaper than other places. Last night I bought another bag of Glutino cookies at another store, and I paid over a dollar more. ๐ (Total side note here – I used to get really mad that gluten free products were so expensive. Then I heard a discussion on the radio about WHY. Well, in order to ensure they are gluten free, they have to be made with their own equipment away from everything else. To put things in perspective, to someone with Celiac disease or a bad gluten intolerance, even a touch of gluten can be just as harmful as a peanut to a person with a peanut allergy. So, the producers have to invest in new equipment to make a product for a much smaller share of the market. It just costs more. But thankfully Walmart is keeping the prices lower.)
I bought Glutino chocolate chip cookies. Don’t forget your coupon for Glutino cookies!
I made an incredible gluten free dinner of kielbasa sausage and veggies and served these cookies up for dessert. Easy and delicious. Simply slice onions and a variety of peppers. Slice up sausage. Put coconut oil in the pan and stir fry it all. Serve with salad or a fruit and some Glutino chocolate chip cookies! ๐
Except we wound up eating dessert first!
I opened the package of Glutino chocolate chip gluten free cookies to “sample” while I was cutting up the veggies. Then I had another one. Then the kids wanted one.
I handed each child a cookie, waiting to see if I would get the standard, “Mom, are these GLUTEN FREE???” as if I had just fed them snake eyeballs or something. I watched. One bite, two bites… “Mmm these are good!”
And this is what happened:
Yes. We ate the ENTIRE package (ok, we saved two for daddy) before I even finished making dinner!
They were good. Too good. The kids had no idea they were gluten free.
Thank you Glutino and thank you Walmart for offering a great selection at lower prices.
