Home Again, Home Again

July 29, 2013 By katbiggie 24 Comments

I hope you all missed me as much as I missed you!  (OK, I didn’t really miss you, I was having too much fun!)

I have so much catching up to do, but I wanted to share a few moments from our family trip to New York. We had a lovely time with my husband’s family, way, way, upstate NY in the Adirondacks.

The weather was gorgeous! I mean gorgeous. It was sunny every day, and stayed in the 70s and 80s. The mornings were cool, which was great since we are all on a “get fit” and live a more healthy and active lifestyle path, and we walked/jogged the four miles around the lake most mornings.

The highlights of our week included:

Swimming in the beautiful lakes

307322

Playing with our cousins

086
390
344
370

Celebrating my niece’s 5th Birthday

151

Being Silly

172

Road tripping to Alexandria Bay with Grandma and Grandpa

House on Millionaire Mile
Boldt Castle

Heart flower beds on Heart Island

We had so much fun! Relaxing, going out on the lake, watching golf, most of the family played a lot of golf. We went to Zumba and for long walks, we at ice cream, and then more ice cream! We played Mexican Train, we had a bonfire and made s’mores.

We laughed.

We relaxed.

We (mostly) unplugged and just had a fun time as a family.

It was an amazing week!

Looks like a fabulous trip! We really do need that time to unplug. Best of luck getting back into the everyday grind – that’s the hardest part of vacation, isn’t it?

It really was a nice trip! But yes, returning is tough. I tried to do something productive yesterday… nothing.

Yay for an amazing week and I have family up in Rochester, NY and always loved going up there in my younger days. Maybe as the kids get a bit older we can take them up there to visit, too. Thanks for sharing all the pictures and glad you got to unplug for the week (totally deserved it!).

So glad to hear you had such a good time. Awesome photos, and it sounds so nice. We go visit my family in Pennsylvania once a year, and I love just being in that environment. It makes such a change from Orlando!! 😉

Yes, it is ! One of my hubs’ brothers family is in Orlando, so we visit them quite a bit. There is quite a difference between Orlando and upstate NY!!

Living even further north, the Adirondacks have always been a favourite when I travel “south”! Alexandria Bay is so pretty! We went to Boldt castle a couple of years ago too from the Canadian side in Gananoque (gorgeous area too:). That castle is spectacular – and has such a beautiful – and sad history. Looks like you had a great time!

It sounds like you had a super fun trip! We almost always go to the ocean on vacation and your scenes from the lake make me yearn for a change of pace next year!

My husband hates the beach… he is a lake/rivers person. I’d love to get to the beach more, but I also love the lake! Especially with little ones.
