I am so excited about this NICU Moms photo contest with WeMontage!
One of the things I really want to write more about is what life was like when we were in the NICU. I talk about TTTS, their birth, and of course Kathryn’s death, the importance of doing what we can to reduce prematurity (March of Dimes advocacy), but I haven’t spent a lot of time actually talking about our NICU experience.
Maybe because those were the longest, most difficult 84 days (TWELVE WEEKS) of my life.
And unless you’ve been there, it’s so hard to understand. Maybe that’s the best reason TO talk about it. Awareness.
Although I’m not going to go into our experience too much today, I do just want to say, that much like TTTS parents, there is a special bond between the NICU grads too. We are darn proud of surviving that journey.
So when James from WeMontage (one of the best products EVER in my opinion – see the WeMontage I ordered months ago at the end of the post) – asked me, as a fellow NICU parent, what my thoughts were about having a NICU instagram contest for parents of NICU graduates to win a WeMontage collage, I told him it was a genius idea. And he asked me to be a part of it!
SWEET!
Full disclosure – WeMontage is giving me a 3X2 removable photo collage for helping them spread the word, but truth be told, I love their product so much, I would have shared the word anyway! 🙂
NICU Challenges
Anyone who’s had a baby spend time in the NICU knows how challenging this experience can be on so many levels. My twins, Kathryn and Tiny, arrived ten weeks early and weighed 4lb5oz and 1lb 10 oz. One had too much fluid, the other not enough, from the TTTS.
There is so much stress involved with having a baby in the NICU. Concerns that they may take a bad turn at any moment. Loud, beeping and squawking machines. Shut downs of the rooms for emergency procedures… not to mention, trying to care for our two little ones still at home.
Thankfully, Tiny was finally able to come home. She is healthy and happy. But I wear that NICU Mom badge like a flippin’ badge of courage! And I am so proud of where my Tiny has been, and where she’s come.
NICU Moms removable photo wallpaper Instagram contest
What better than to celebrate their achievements with a photo contest!
How, you ask? With Instagram, of course!
WeMontage wants moms to upload a photo of their beautiful NICU fighters to show how great they’re doing now that they’ve left the NICU. Hashtag the photo with #WeMontageNICU and follow us on Instagram at @WeMontage to be eligible to win.
The Prize
On Tuesday, August 5th, WeMontage will randomly select three lucky moms to receive a 3 foot by 2 foot WeMontage removable photo wallpaper collage to proudly display photos of their adorable little NICU champions in the kid’s room, nursery, or wherever else they’d like (a $70 value).
If you’re a proud NICU mom, please join us! You will be so stoked with this amazing product!

July 28, 2014 at 12:37 pmWhat a great contest to honor the NICU grads! I have had several friends who have had babies in the NICU. They tell amazing stories of those times. I think awareness is important because those that find themselves in NICU might not feel as alone. Kudos to James and WeMontage for putting this together!
