Seriously. I did not make it up. That’s what the Bump has named their call to action for National Breastfeeding Month. I kind of like the slogan. “Join the Boob-olution.” It has a fun ring to it.
I am sure you have seen the pictures, ads, and posts about August being National Breastfeeding Month, but did you know that August 15th is… drumroll please… the official Public Display of Breastfeeding (PBD) day? Watch out all you people scared to see a woman pop out that boob to nourish her baby.
I didn’t know about PBD either! That is, until I started doing a little research for the guest post that I have over at Mommifried today.
I have gotten to know Crystal a bit better over the last few months as we’ve collaborated on a couple of big projects, that I can’t wait to tell you about soon! Crystal writes really cool posts like Does Your Blog Have a Soul and 6 Foods that Should Be Banned From High Chairs. I remember the first time I visited her blog and saw her description of herself as a “mother suffering from MUDD – Motherhood Unintentional Distraction Disorder.” I knew instantly I liked her!
So I hope you’ll go read my post on breastfeeding and be sure to check out Crystal’s awesomeness!
Here’s a little preview:
Last week was World Breastfeeding Week.
The internet and social media sites were filled with images of mothers nursing their babies, such as these that UNICEF published, which are all very classy images and remind us all of the benefits of breastfeeding, particularly in third world countries, and for preterm babies, I would note.
I also saw some photos on Instagram and Facebook that, quite honestly, made me blush. And I can understand why some people would be uncomfortable.
Truthfully, I don’t like to see women breastfeeding.
But not for the reasons you are probably thinking…
To find out why, head over to Mommifried.

August 14, 2013 at 9:34 amWhen I was trying to breast feed (long unimportant story there) we were still living in the UK. I never encountered resistance to it and in fact, they wondered why I was so prudish about feeding my baby. It’s an American thing mostly I think to have such a bug-a-boo about breast feeding. However, I have been uncomfortable around women who made a big show of it to make a point rather than just getting on with what needs to be done.
