#GiveAShit for World Toilet Day

November 19, 2015 by katbiggie 6 Comments

It’s crude, I know. But it makes a funny point about a not so funny situation.

#‎WorldToiletDay‬ is TODAY and I’m so excited! Join @wateraidamerica in showing you ‪#‎GiveAShit‬ about the one in three people without a place to poop.

Yes. #WorldToiletDay is a thing. This is the THIRD year. I wrote about it in 2013. Read my post on the First World Toilet Day if you dare. There’s a singing toilet. Just sayin’.

But it’s really not funny. One in THREE people don’t have a sanitary place to go to the bathroom, or access to a potty.  That’s 2.3 BILLION people, according to WaterAid.

Where there are no toilets, people die. Clean water and sanitary conditions keep people healthy. Where there are poor sanitary conditions, people get sick.

This is a preventable problem.

This year, you can create your own poop emoji. Seriously. Do it here: make your own poop emoji today at www.giveashit.info. I challenge you to #GiveAShit.

For starters, I encourage you to hop on over to the WaterAid site and read this informative post: Seven Things You Probably Didn’t Know About the State of the World’s Toilets.

Oh, and make your #GiveAShit emoji. And show people! 🙂#GiveAShit

Oh man, I know this is a serious issue and appreciate the reminder, but also love the bit of humor you could still find in this, as well though.

If you don’t have humor, you’ve got nothing, right?

This really blows my mind every time I read about how so many don’t even have a toilet or clean water. How could this be? I appreciate you being a voice for this incredible need and I hope and pray NEXT year, perhaps you won’t need to share this.

That would be really outstanding if we could clinch this problem in a year! 🙂

My emoji has a glass of wine! Funny stuff, but it also brings up good conversation. WaterAid’s State of the World’s Toilets report was a really eye-opening read.

Poop and wine. Love it. And yes, it’s scary stuff… despite the humor.
