I want to raise Godstruck Kids

May 8, 2014 by katbiggie 8 Comments

Disclosure: I received a complimentary sample of music and curriculum and compensation from Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids to write this review post, but all views are my own. I never write a sponsored review about a product I do not stand behind.

Do you want to raise Godstruck Kids?

One of the responsibilities that I take very seriously as a mother is the education of my children. Not just reading and writing, but emotional and spiritual development as well.

I am raising them Christian. But I have not really done an awesome job at this. I take them to Sunday school and church each week, but one to two hours a week is not enough for them to learn and retain all the lessons. I want them to grow up knowing God’s Word better than I did. In a world that can be so mean and hurtful, it’s my belief that religious education is an essential key to teaching compassion and love for one another.

So I have been seeking ways for us to incorporate more religion into our daily routine. I like to use a five-minute-a-day devotional book for children because it provides short lessons and stories that the kids can actually use. But I’d really like something fun and super engaging that we could use all day and incorporate into our lives. I want to raise Godstruck Kids.

Enter Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids

I was thrilled to see this review opportunity pop up from the Mommy Hot Spot Army of Moms for Godstruck Ministries for Kids. Mommy Hot Spot was seeking 10 bloggers who would review a sample electronic version of the Scripture Adventure CDs and a PDF file of the curriculum.

GodStruck Kids

Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids is focused on teaching children to learn God’s word through music.

From their mission statement:

Our mission is to help children hide God’s Word and principles in their hearts through His wonderful gift of music. He has brought together a team of individuals who love the Lord and who have contributed the talents and abilities He has given each one for this vision to become a reality.

Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids endeavors to be: God-honoring, Service-oriented, Truth-based, Relevant, Ultra fun, Creative, Kid-friendly, Musically moving, Lyrically inspiring

If your kids enjoy Vacation Bible School (VBS) they will love this program. Because that’s exactly what it is like. Fun themes and music with associated curriculum including coloring activities and games. It is the perfect curriculum for Sunday school classes, homeschooling parents, or parents like me who just want a fun and interactive way to teach more scripture memory in our daily activities. The curriculum is broken down with easy to follow guidelines. Each lesson incorporates a devotional theme, music, an activity (the curriculum provides a list of “needs” and instructions for the activities, which are varied and fun!), a lesson with commentary to drive home the lesson, a coloring page, and a bible passage.

I really like the music – so did my kids. It is really energetic Christian Kids’ Music. The tunes are catchy and repetitive which is excellent for memorization, and there are little lessons sprinkled into the intros and or closing of the songs. My kids were up and dancing to the music and singing along in no time.  (There is even a movement guide in the curriculum to teach you the movements for some of the songs.)

As a musician, I really like the incorporation of the talking instruments well. 🙂

The scripted storyline in between the songs is a great learning tool and keeps the kids interested in actually listening to the lessons the songs are driving home.

The curriculum is easy to follow, easy to implement, engaging, and designed in a way that makes the bible study easily taught at home or in a Sunday school environment. The activities are interesting and drive home the point of the lesson, without being overwhelming.  This is one of the sample activities:

(3) Activity/Object Lesson: Place the box, cut side down, on a table. Place your paper or other object in what you determine is the darkest corner. Making sure the room is as dark as possible will help. Have each child look inside the door. Ask, “What do you see?” After everyone has a turn, let each look through the opening using a flashlight to see the object.

(4) Commentary: Just like the flashlight allows us to see [your object] under the box, the Bible allows us to see the way God knows is best for us. Can you imagine how hard it would be to play a new game if no one bothered to write down the rules? It’s even more important that our loving God gave us His Word to show us how to live.

This is the perfect type of activity to explain God’s Word to my four and seven year old children.

I highly recommend this program for Homeschool curriculum or a Sunday School Curriculum to teach your children more about God’s Word. Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids provides samples of their music so you don’t have to purchase the materials without test driving.

Sounds like a wonderful program for small kids at home to teach a bit about God and faith, too. And I too have been slacking on this and admit that I need to get on the ball with this more with my own kids. Thanks for sharing Alexa 😉

The songs are fun and the curriculum is super easy. Even those of us who are not great at trying to teach our kids can use this program and get it done! 🙂

This sounds great! I too am trying to find ways to incorporate our faith into my son’s daily life (as opposed to just Sunday morning) so I will definitely be checking this out.

It’s really cute. And the CD is one that is fun for in the car as well!

What a neat activity. I admit, I’ve been terrible with incorporating faith into everyday life with the boys. I may look into this. Thanks!

It’s not easy to do. I’ve really struggled with even making the time to say bedtime prayers with the kids. So, I”m trying to make more of an effort in different ways.

That does look cool. My two eldest are at an age where they need to start having quiet times. Something like this would help.
