Healing the Gut + Amazing #Whole30 #Paleo Breakfast scramble

Healing the Gut

As I mentioned in my post about my shower head and my thyroid, I have been taking advantage of some really amazing web conferences on health that have been happening over the last couple months. I just finished the Healthy Gut Summit, preceded by the Auto Immune Summit, preceded by a summit on Children’s Health topics, which is actually going on again right now if this is of interest to you. These summits are great. They are free. They are loaded with information. They include 3-6 experts who talk about all kinds of interesting related topics and you can access them at your leisure for 24 hours. But after that point, if you want access to the information, you have to purchase them.

I was so intrigued by the quality of the interviews and the information provided within, I purchased the transcripts to the Auto Immune summit and the children’s health summit. And I took a LOT of notes during the healthy gut summit.

Because… I have come to learn through research that an unhealthy gut is often the cause behind MANY of our daily health issues. Just listening to these interviews, my whole life began to make so much more sense.

If only we had known these things when I first began having all of my stomach issues and headaches when I was 7 or 8 years old! How different might my life have been?

The good news is – your gut, your body, your brain – can all HEAL if you’re willing to make the changes to heal your gut.

So I’ve committed myself to healing the gut. As I mentioned before, I’m sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.

I’ve decided to jump start my system by going on a modified #Whole30 diet. I say modified because it’s mostly whole30, but there are a few exceptions.  The approach I am taking is by Dr. Alejandro Junger – The Cleanse Diet. As I mentioned, it’s very similar to Whole 30. For 21 days you completely avoid the five toxic triggers, which are Gluten, Dairy, Processed sugar, Coffee/Caffeine, and Alcohol.

Dr. Junger explains that when toxins build up in your body, it causes a variety of issues such as skin issues, brain fog, lethargy, digestive issues, headaches, allergies, weight problems, and so forth. These are all signs that your body is in a toxic state.

[Tweet “Headaches, allergies, brain fog, lethargy… all signs body is in toxic state. #healTheGut #cleanse via @katbiggie”]

It’s interesting because you can have coffee (black or with coconut milk) on Whole 30, but both Dr. Junger and another doctor who wrote The Hypothyroid Diet advise against caffeine at all for cleansing of the body.

You can sign up for Dr. Junger’s free 5 day Detox Course at his website. It’s free and comes with resources, such as recipes and ideas on how to make your food interesting. You get a short video for five days all about why it is important to cleanse and detox and how to do it properly. And we’re not talking about nasty beverages that you drink that leave you in the bathroom for 24 hours straight as your body flushes EVERYTHING out. We’re talking a good, clean diet with NO gluten, dairy, processed sugar, coffee, or alcohol.

I know I am posting REALLY late today, but while we’re on the subject of gluten free, there are a bunch of Gluten Free Cookbooks that are on sale for 99cents or free today ONLY on Amazon, so go grab them!

As I travel down this journey that is a life style change, not a diet, not a fad, but a forever thing, I plan on sharing my favorite recipes.

I have been enjoying this for breakfast every day this week. Time saving tip: chop up a good bit of your veggies at the same time and save what you aren’t using so the next morning, it’s just a matter of throwing them in the pan. You can even make a huge recipe and portion it out for several days. It reheats well.

Four eggs may seem like a lot – and you may want to cut it back, but I was not be hungry again until lunch time, I did not have any sugar crashes or moments that it felt like I was shaky or really peckish. And it tastes good!

Don’t forget to go grab your Gluten Free Cookbooks that are on sale for 99cents or free today ONLY on Amazon.

Actually, that breakfast looks great! I cook with coconut oil a lot. I’m all about whole foods and clean eating. I’m not going to say I practice it well. At all. I don’t have any of the symptoms listed above, although I occasionally get seasonal allergies and I imagine diet changes would help that.

Good for you!! Way to go! I couldn’t agree more about gut health affecting so many aspects of our whole health! I follow the AIP diet for healing, it’s super challenging but I feel great! I blog about it too 😉
