First off – since TTTS and Preemies seem to go hand in hand, I have an announcement! For anyone who signed the petition for the March of Dimes to “Light the White House Purple” in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the March of Dimes – we got enough signatures! Yay!
And… even more importantly:
“On November 15, 2012, the U.S. Senate passed the S. 1440, PREEMIE Reauthorization Act, voting to renew federal research and education programs on preterm birth. This is a huge success for all March of Dimes advocates, since you’ve been helping to recruit support for this bill for close to two years. The bill is now ready to be taken up by the House of Representatives after the Thanksgiving holiday, but we need your help to ensure its consideration. Take action NOW and tell your U.S. Representative to support passage of this critical legislation during the lame duck session. Thank you for all your tireless work in support of the PREEMIE Reauthorization Act!” You can help by visiting marchofdimes.com
And now… on to our TTTS Tuesday!!
This week TTTS Tuesday is a little different. Sharing the stories of families who have gone through this battle is a great way to bring awareness, but I also want to highlight different educational and awareness tools.
As we get close to December, which is TTTS Awareness Month, I would like to present a video. And I am very excited about this video!
This video was created by a close friend of mine, ReNee. Her twin daughters (who will be featured in an upcoming TTTS Tuesday!) were born at 28 weeks and spent months in the NICU, which greatly impacted their family. ReNee has made it her mission to bring awareness to TTTS. She is greatly talented and uses those talents to help Mary at the TTTS Foundation by putting together educational materials and videos, such as the one below.
ReNee also makes graphics, banners, and other artwork (often featured on my blog) for all parents and loved ones to use to bring more awareness to TTTS and help in the grieving or healing process.
Because no matter what the outcome, if impacted by TTTS, we all have to heal from the blow it takes to our lives.
You can find ReNee’s artwork at Random ReNee’s Facebook page.
I hope you’ll watch the video and share it. Especially if you know any OB/GYNs or anyone pregnant with twins!
Oh and by the way, my girls are featured in this video!
Thanks!
