Who Are You Wearing?

January 29, 2014 by katbiggie 22 Comments

It is award season. Ahhh, Red carpet. I tried to watch one awards show last year and quite frankly, I didn’t even know who half the people were that were strutting down the red carpets. I am dis-connected. If I were to go to a Red Carpet event, I surely would have no idea what is in or out…

We mommies love to joke about the “mommy uniform” – ie, yoga pants and a t-shirt, that I many stay at home moms are guilty of wearing just about every day. So when my friend Katia, from I am the Milk, mentioned that she and some of my other favorite bloggers were going to do a spoof linkup “Mommy vs. Red-Carpet” in which we were all to post a picture of us in our daily getup, I thought that was pretty cool. And fun. And way less serious than most of my topics!

So without further ado, “Who are YOU wearing?”

momsvs-awards

I do love my yoga pants. So much, that I have several of the exact same pair. Sure do. And I have two FULL drawers of t-shirts. So today, I thought I’d bring you a picture of me in my gear. I am NOT red-carpet worthy, however, I am totally prepared for snot being wiped on my pants and shirt, food being spilled on me, paint being splashed all over me, and the likes of these daily events in my glamorous life.

Most of my clothes these days come from Kohl’s (when I’m getting fancy) or Target. I TRY to throw on a little color on my lips – because my sister insists that no lady should ever go out without lipstick. And I once heard the saying “Even an old barn looks better with a fresh coat of paint!” Ha!

So peeps, here you have it. Here’s who I am wearing!

momvsredcarpet2

So there you have it. Luckily I have had a few events lately in which I’ve gotten all fancied up, so I know I still have it in me.

But… it takes a lot to get there these days! And I’m okay with that.

Tiny makes an amazing accessory and I love the way she is so immersed in studying your nail polish! 🙂 Thank you so much for joining us, Alexa, I so appreciate it!

I too own multiple pairs of the same yoga pants. Champion-the cheap ones. And Target can be fancy, just call it Tar-jay! HA HA! Love the contrast between the two yous. We’re so glad you showed us what you were wearing! 😀

I have multiple pairs of the same sweat pants (I like them more than yoga pants because they have pockets and I need my iphone that close to me) too. And your chipped nail polish is better than my chipped nails with no polish because you know – glamour! Seriously though you look gorgeous and are totally rocking that t-shirt!

Tiny is definitely the perfect accessory and I am trying to get dressed more lately, but I know it takes a lot with two small kids to take care of day in and day out, but Alexa that second picture proves you definitely still got it!! You are so gorgeous and beautiful from the inside out 🙂

I think the name of your blog is perfect for this post! The thing that I have realized doing this awesome link-up is that we really don’t need the bling. Yes, you look beautiful dressed up. But, swear to god, you look JUST as beautiful in your mom wear! How cool is that?

You sure do still have it in you! You clean up real good, lady! But you know what? I love your T-shirt au naturel look too. You rock that one just as much! I’m a big fan of Kohl’s and Target… they are staples in our house for all family members! 😉 So glad you linked up with us- THANK YOU! xo

It is about being prepared, isn’t it? It would be ridiculous to walk around the house in cashmere when we paint and cook and wipe boogies all day long. I love your accessory. My two accessories are my favorite part of my “look” too.

What a great idea! I love it. I’m with you with who’s who on the Red Carpet – I haven’t a clue who most of these people are!? You look fabulous in BOTH pictures. A mom’s life is not glamorous but it can be very rewarding.

I love this link up! Lately I’ve been more of a jeans and sweater kind of gal. I can’t quite remember the last time I bought new clothes. Sad really. I don’t know who half the celebrities are these days either. Oh well.

p.s. I love your little accessory!

You are probably one of the few who understands how I feel about awards shows as well! We actually don’t have cable, and the last time I saw a movie that was nominated for an Academy Award it was Lord of the Rings. Other than that, I’m drawing a blank. And I would much rather be wearing my boy and his crud than anything else! (oh and a bowl of ice cream, ok not wearing, eating)

Wait, does toenail polish come in unchipped?? I must have forgotten that after all this time. 😉 Thanks for linking up.

LOL I wonder that myself… mine is pretty much never unchipped, except for maybe that one week following my annual pedi!!!

You look absolutely glowing both in casual and in fancy.
I don’t own a pair of yoga pants – isn’t that sad? I guess I’m waiting for the right ones.

Truthfully, me either, but I needed to jazz it up – my face is pretty pasty and chapped lips!

I love that purple dress you have on! I hardly ever wear jeans anymore. I usually wear my running clothes or some type of clothes I can do exercises or hiking in. I do try to make sure my workout clothes fit my nicely and look good though. And I try to smooth my somewhat frizzy hair out so I don’t look so crazy and put on some eyeliner and curl my eyelashes. That’s pretty enough for me 🙂

That was a very special event – it was the big annual March of Dimes Signature Chef’s event, and I was the key note speaker, so I had to be looking good! (I am pictured with one of the local TV news anchors.) I am usually in my workout clothes, although I don’t do much working out!!
