It amazes me sometimes how much wisdom children and young adults have within them. Just recently a 16 year old girl has written a short poem that truly moved me. If you’re new to our story, you should know that we lost a 2 day old baby almost eight months ago due to a terrible disease called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). This past weekend the TTTS Foundation sponsored an awareness conference, remembrance ceremony and fundraising walk in Cleveland, OH for the babies/families affected by TTTS. Emily, a 16 year old survivor of TTTS, her twin sister and their mother attended the conference. On her way home, Emily wrote this beautiful poem. For a 16 year old, she captured the sentiments of my heart, of my wishes, of my dreams… Thank you Emily for being such an amazing 16 year old.
Some lose all
No matter what
We do not fall…
We fight for love
We all have faith
In God above
We’ve all been there
We’ve all fought hard
Some left alone
some left scarred
Were all one
All connected
All together All affected
We’re all here
Ands were all sure
That soon enough
We’ll find a cure
