If you’re here, you’re probably struggling for the right words to say when a baby dies… My first exposure to “baby loss” occurred in April 2005. Friends of mine, Anja and Corey, were expecting their first baby. She was a week overdue, and noticed she felt no movement. They went into the hospital on a Friday […]
Bigger
My bleep is bigger than yours. I used to really like the band Korn. Ok, I’m not gonna lie. I still really like the band Korn, but I just don’t allow myself to listen to their music with little ears around. But lately, there has been this one line of one particular song that is […]
Heard from the Back Seat: #2
This week I’ve heard all kinds of interesting things… you never know what you are going to get with a car full of kids! (I mean seriously!!) But in honor of it being almost Halloween, we’ll go with my favorite story. Nayner Bug: “Mom, what are you going to be for Halloween?” Me: “I’m going […]
The innocent
I’m Going Green today with Adrienne! I was over at Writing, Wishing (one of my favorite blogs) and her post today really struck a chord with me. Alison’s post is entitled “Intrinsic Goodness” and is about the goodness within us that exists clearly as children and just seems to get sucked out of us as […]
Let’s Talk About Poop… Everyone Else Is!
We’re having a drastic change in pace today… I don’t want all of my posts to make you feel like jumping off of a bridge, so tonight, you get the distinct pleasure of hearing one of my favorite funny stories of motherhood. Have you noticed how much moms (and dads for that matter) with small […]
The Dreaded “Year of Firsts”
We all have ways of measuring things, passing time, marking key events. When you go through something as horrific as TTTS and infant loss, or the loss of anyone you love, there are so many dates, events, memories. When it was diagnosed, when we had procedures, when the babies were born. When Kathryn died. I dreaded […]
Kindergarten Stinks… according to my 5 year old!
I was so hopeful we’d have a good first day… my oldest child was starting Kindergarten! We have been talking about school for weeks – how fun it is, how he’ll meet so many new friends! We breezed through the assessment and orientation, and BB was excited! I even displayed an uncharacteristic amount of organization […]
Gratitude
Tweet I have been thinking about this particular post and wanting to write it for so long, but the right words seem to elude me… but I do not want any more time to pass before I express my sincerest and deepest gratitude to those friends, family, and strangers who went out of their way to […]
Insomnia
I am so tired but I can’t sleep. I’ve had this issue all week. This is the first time in my life that I’ve had any problem sleeping, and I don’t like it. I cried for Kathryn tonight. I haven’t cried about her in a long time, but tonight, as I lay my head on […]
Words of Wisdom… out of the mouths of babes!
It amazes me sometimes how much wisdom children and young adults have within them. Just recently a 16 year old girl has written a short poem that truly moved me. If you’re new to our story, you should know that we lost a 2 day old baby almost eight months ago due to a terrible […]
Half Birthday
My surviving twin is 6 months old today. Happy 1/2 Birthday sweet pea. I love you so much, and know that your guardian angel sister is giggling up in heaven. Daisies are the official flower of the Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) foundation, so I ordered us a beautiful bouquet.
Moving On…
In just a few short days it will be six months since my identical twin daughters were born, followed two days after by the death of one of my girls. I have been considering beginning a blog since I was pregnant and first received the news about the syndrome my babies suffered from, as well […]
